Minicamping De Grutte Earen is situated behind a beautiful farmhouse built in 1887, in the middle of the scenic meadows. To the north, you can see in the distance the enormous satellite dishes of the only Dutch ground station for international connections, popularly known as It Grutte Earen (The Big Ears) from which the minicampsite derives its name.

In addition to 25 camping pitches for caravans and/or tents, this campsite also has 10 camper / motorhome pitches. ‘De Grutte Earen’ offers basic amenities such as toilets, washing and showering facilities, and a place to do the dishes. Every camping and camper pitch has its own power supply. There is a covered bicycle storage area with charging facilities for e-bikes. The campsite is located in such a rural area that there is no sewage system, which also means that operations are carried out as environmentally friendly as possible. For example, natural soap is available at the campsite, the use of which causes no harm to people, animals, or the environment.

Camping in the Frisian countryside also means that shops and other entertainment are not always on the doorstep, but at least a fifteen-minute drive away. At mini-camping ‘De Grutte Earen’, you can therefore make full use of our breakfast service. And who wouldn't want to enjoy a hearty breakfast every morning with fresh rolls and other local produce? Moreover, such a delicious, substantial breakfast naturally provides a fantastic start for a day of walking or cycling in the Frisian or Groningen countryside.
